9 Weeks!

This is the closest Alex (Weaky Man) lets me get to catching him smile on film! Already 9 weeks! He had his Dr. appointment last week for his vaccines, and two month check up. All is good, Alex is 9lbs 11 oz. and 22 inches long. He is eating like a champ and we got the go ahead to start rice cereal in with his formula to fill him up, since he is eating easily 6 oz every bottle, and sometimes less then an hour later he wants more!
Alex is starting to smile more, and almost laugh at us. I love it first thing in the morning when he is fussy, I pick him up, and he sighs really big. Then he starts his Elvis lip thing, followed by a huge smile with a dimple only on the right side!
Happy 9 weeks Alex!

They love me! They really love me!!

The same day as the flashlight lesson (see previous post) I was feeding Alex, and Mia wanted to lay right next to him. Too cute, she is starting to really be more comfortable around him. I am so grateful to be a mom. I love the life Ed and I have made.

Mondays are good.

Well at least around here they are. Mondays for most people is the beginning of a work week, the end of a two day weekend. Well here Mondays are usually Ed's only day off from all 3 jobs. Not every week. But some today and last Monday were work free days for Ed. I love these days because we spend as much time just the 4 of us as we can.

This picture is Ed showing Mia how to hold a flashlight under her hand so she could see through it. It was even funnier afterwards, Ed moved the light around the living room floor, and Mia chased it like a cat. Too funny!

I truly love our family life. We have fun and make the best of what we have with each other. All that matters to me is being with my family and having fun. It's also important that the kids get to spend as much time with Ed when he is off work. So they get to know and trust him like they do me. (Also so when he is around they can cling to him too)

Family First, I always said it, and it always will be.

Random things I have noticed...

Since I am a devoted member of the SITS (The Secrets In The Sauce) group, and I read about 30 blogs (some daily depending on how often they post) But I have to say I notice many of the SITS mom's (and non moms!) have many things in common.

  1. Many of these mom's should be great writers. Or are and are just trapped here in bloggers paradise waiting to be found.

  2. Humorous. Or shall I say sarcastic? Either way I love it. I think the more kids you have the sassier and the funnier you get. Mind you I was sassy and funny before kids, oh my how the sass and smart ass comments just come flying out of my mouth!

  3. Fun with kids and family. Not only in a "family arts and crafts day" or "day at the park" kind of fun. I also mean at the kids or husbands expense. I mean Swedish Fish really do swim in your stomach right? I think it's what gets us moms through a day.

  4. Pictures. This is always fun, I love pictures, taking them sharing them, scrapbooking them, and of coarse posting them here. It finishes a story, or makes it make sense. Love seeing them on everyones sites!

  5. Religion. Interesting to say that I am seeing more and more bloggers that are huge on religion. Not bad at all, I am not big on Religion right now in my life, but it's good to see people that are devoted and I think it unites a family in a way.

  6. Bloggers are getting a sense of individual style. Blog make overs or just pimping out the current blogger choices (boring!) Oh, which reminds me I need to finish what I was working on, and email Shannon, over at 8CrazyDesigns. I won a kickass prize of a BLOG MAKEOVER! And we are busy working together on it! CAN NOT WAIT TO SHOW YOU!

Who would of thought 20 years ago that all of my journaling would be on a computer, I so badly wanted to be able to type fast, I NEVER would have thought I could self teach myself something so crazy. But I did, and the world is a better place for it. Why you ask? Because blogging saves my sanity, and keeps me from yelling at random people. Now I just blog it, or yell it at my family, then blog it afterwards.

Pride 2008

Have pride my gay friends, have pride!

Tomorrow will be the second annual Pride Parade I attend in Chicago. I attended last year with my bestest friend in support of all gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and tranys alike. But mostly for my cousin Rob and his partner Gregg (happy one year guys!)

It was insane last year. I have to say it started at the Joliet train station with a guy boarding the train wearing assless chaps. Oh and that was just the begining! I can't wait for another crazy adventure with Jen, Rob and Gregg!

I will post more after the parade! Happy Pride Parade day my fellow Chicagolanders!!

Toddler and scissors= mommy minus one toe

It was a close call, and I am making a mental note, not to fall asleep while feeding Alex. I woke up with Easter kitten stickers covering my feet (6 total) and Mia attempting to remove my big toe with some scissors. I must explain I had the scissors out to pry open the battery cover on Alex's swing... yes I know, I am lecturing myself as I type this, put away the scissors and don't sleep with a toddler near by. So far I have been poked with a mop, covered in stickers and almost lost a toe!

Well it's time for lunch here, noodles it is. Then to attempt getting Mia to take a nap, pay bills online, physically go pay the water bill before they shut it off, then back to the laundry...

K mommy?

I changed Mia's diaper on her bedroom floor, she ran into the hall. I laid back and closed my eyes, only for a second, I was quickly woken with a stabbing poke to the stomach with a mop, and a two year old on the other end. "K mommy?" she says "yes Mi, mommy is ok." We then giggle because it's hysterical that you just got poked with a mop and asked if you were ok, not to mention she then starts to swing the mop around her tiny body. And as I type this standing at my desk, Mia is poking me yet again. But this time saying "butt... butt... butt" god I love this job.

A day with me...

Each morning I have been trying to perfect some sort of routine. (and yes I know being a mom of 6 kids, four with fur will make a routine to say near impossible) A routine where I can start a day of insanity off right, and keep going with some sort of good intentions.

This morning started good. I woke before the kids (7:00 am)(not really, I guess I woke before the kids were screaming at me) I go pee, wash my face, pull up my hair, put on lotion and bronzer so I look human, some eyeliner and mascara (my normal daily face paint) brush my teeth, and take my pill (hoping that you do your job little pill!) hop on the scale (138... yes I know I am still trying!!) look in the mirror and sigh at myself, knowing we are off to the races!

Change Mia, bring her down and the toy of choice today, for breakfast. Alex sometimes joins us, sometimes he sleeps in. (thank you!) Mia then retreats to the front room for "toys!" and her sippy with milk. And a good round of Sesame Street, Barney and Mickey's Clubhouse. Oh during Mia's breakfast, I am usually given the side eye by the two starving boxers (like they didn't just eat last night) and I try to feed myself food, usually just coffee is the start. If Alex is up screaming for breakfast too. He lays in his bouncy on the table (yes I know I am such a safe mom!) So I can feed him with one had and myself with the other? Unless Mia reverts to being babylike and needs me to feed her... then my coffee sadly sits there, waiting for my third arm to grow...

While Mia is in her play zone, I finish up with Alex, unload the dishwasher, reload with breakfast dishes, possibly have to play ball with Sophie (yes have to, she will obnoxiously bark until I do. But I just leave the back door open and I trained her to bring the ball to me in the kitchen and I throw it out the door from there! (Yes Multi-tasking mommy award please!)

Sweep the floors (redundant and kinda pointless with all the mess...) then upstairs to put away laundry and pick up random mess. Bring laundry down two flights of stairs to the basement, across through the media room, through my art room (mess) to the washer and dryer. Start laundry, start timer so I don't forget laundry...

Feed Mia lunch she plays upstairs, the off to nap (or a screaming I don't wanna fit, oh those are always fun. (heavy sarcasm there) I then attempt for some blog time in the morning, while feeding Alex, one handed commenting is becoming the norm around here... well I would love to keep blogging, but I need to put Alex in his carrier and put him on, and turn on Elmo Palooza the movie for Mia so everyone is happy while we all fold clothes. (or I fold clothes while entertaining kids) to be cont...

Please stop

...Knocking on my door trying to sell me your religion, or belief, or whatever magical crap you think I should follow. GET OFF MY PORCH. This is when I love my dogs to come to the front door and jump and bark. (see smirk on my face)

... Sending me political emails about Obama. I will vote for who I want, and your email will not change my mind. And don't assume you know who I will vote for.

...Asking if I breast feed my kids. I don't and I don't get where you have the balls to ask. Or why you need to know. And what kind of conversation starter that is.

...telling me how white I am, and that I need some sun. Hey smarty pants, I do own a mirror, I am white, really white. So white my kids are opaque! Sun causes cancer, and me to burn and peel. No I don't do tanning beds since my mom got Melanoma from one, and spray tanning costs money I don't have and makes me look like an Ompa Lompa.

...Asking me for money. Again Ed doesn't work 3, yes 3 jobs for the sake of just getting out. Get your own job, make money, attempt a budget and join the rest of us middle class ass busting people.

...Questioning why I want to Baptise my kids since I don't attend any sort of Sunday Mass. Well because Ed wants to, and it would be nice to have a blessing over my kids. Plus as a bonus it will get some die hard religious people off my back. Believe me religion is not a topic most people want to discuss with me. Most get offended, so I just keep it to myself. As I would appreciate people to keep there religion to themselves.

...pretending to be my friend. Your not, I can see that you judge me every time you see me. You avoid me, and it's SO obvious it's funny. It's just good you don't talk to me, since I offend you every time I open my mouth. So I will deliriously pick a different word.

... thinking that muffin tops are hot. They are SO far from even remotely attractive. I vomit in my mouth every time I see someone sport one proudly.

... age discrimination me. I am 29, 4 weeks away from 30. I look like I am 20 and since my wedding ring doesn't fit my 30 lbs over weight body, I look like a young unwed mother of 2. Yes you don't know me do you? Then stop the "look" like you do.

... pounding on your bedroom door. I just don't get it. I WILL BE RIGHT THERE!! Gah!!

... Asking me if my kid wants a sucker. All kids should get a sticker from there doctor. Especially since you've been asking me that since she was 1! Good god! And on that note, NO pop for her either!! Milk or water, and sometimes juice. Ice cream after dinner. Sigh...

Oh I could go on and on... and on... this is enough for now... I should go do some house work...

Bad Ass...Who Me?

Happy, friendly, outgoing, helpful these are all words that describe me. That is what I see in me, but my mom recently told me I have a very strong personality and I intimidate people (little ol me?) So maybe instead of Happy you see obnoxious? Instead of friendly I'm nosey? Not so outgoing just annoying? Helpful is maybe seen as a know-it-all?
Well maybe that's what you see. I guess I always wanted to be just an all around happy-go-lucky type of girl, who's sees the glass half full and optimistic about the future. But as I get older (30 in 4 weeks) I have been hurt by friends and family. I usually forgive, knowing that I have said a few wrong things in my life, and error is human. But some ex-friends have taken it to far, and talked to much shit about me, before realizing that I didn't even say what they thought I did. Some owe me money, and act as if I should just forget it since it was 10 years ago. And some just don't like me for who I am.
Family members have hurt my mom. Not one, but two uncles (one her brother and one my dad's brother) and her sister. Have wrongly come right out and blamed my mom for other's lives, and sworn right in her face. I thought there was a golden rule of "don't mess with nobodies mamma" it takes one time and one time only of messing with my mom for me to write you off. Those people and situations make me harder then I want to come across as.
Even as my sister, Susie's, Dystonia got worse and more noticeable to the public I would get SO defensive to anyone that even looked at her. I learned to handle it better, and carry little information cards on Dystonia, and give them to people, and tell them this is what she has, so they understand.
The funny thing is my best friend Jen. I always thought she was just like me, but harder on the outside... come to realize we are both the same... she is a little more pessimistic, or realistic. But she has had a much harder life then me, so I can't blame her, sometimes.
But I am learning in my life that it is WAY to short to change for the happiness or the acceptance of others. I am what I am. If you don't get me, you don't have too, I don't get me either.
Just know to converse with me, you will always get an honest answer. So if your offended easily, don't ask me about politics, religion, or gay rights. I stand where I stand. Some of the topics I am SO strongly opinionated about some topics and could care less to discuss another.
I am opinionated and love to discuss anything with people, I try to keep an open mind so I can teach my kids you shouldn't judge a person by there looks. And I want to know and learn about other people and there lives, knowing that we all do things different, I just can't stand those that judge me because I don't live the same lifestyle they do.
I guess I get offended when I am judged before someone knows me. If you want to know where I stand, ask. I will tell you, then after that if you still don't like me. Fine, just glad your judging me with the right information.
As Lady Soverign would say... "Love me or hate me it's still an obsession, love me or hate me that is the question." Love me or Hate me
And as P!nk would say... "So I'll cash my checks and place my bets, And hope I'll always win Even if I don't I'm ***ked because I live a life of sin. But it's alright I don't give a damn I don't play your rules I make my own." Cuz I Can

Stab wounds

Both of my beautiful children were stabbed today, by a lady in white scrubs. Time for Mia's other 1/2 of her Hepatitis shot, and Alex was due for a whole mess of vaccines (3 and one by mouth)

I laid across Mia, and sang "Winkle Winkle little staw" with her, she just made a frowny face at me, thank god. That girl has some lungs!

Alex however caught on after the first shot, and screamed as if he just lost a limb. I never thought a human could possibly turn so maroon, and his little veins in his head were so blue! Oh he was pissed. Either way both are happily sleeping with Tylenol in there tummy's. Happy sleeping little ones, now mommy can have a few moments of sanity...

If I...

These are always fun, I was over at the very funny Momma Kat's blog and found this. So I thought it would be great time waster, and here is hoping you find the time to dink away filling one of these out on your own blog! (get a blog if you don't have one. And stop lurking me, leave a comment!)

If I had a dime for every... time Mia says "naked" I would be on my way to being rich

If I could catch a star I'd... Staple it to Mia's wall and we could sing "Winkle Winkle little staw" every night to it.

If you saw me cry you'd... think of it as any day around me. I am a weepy and emotional freak

If you could read my eyes they'd tell you...You think you know. But you have no idea.

If I could go back 5 years I would...Enjoy more time with Ed, and being that skinny!

If you saw me walking... I would be attempting for the zillionth time to get into shape

If I could fly, I'd fly to... Arizona to see my Scuzin Alicia

If I could live in the Big Apple I'd... wonder what was the reason? I would see lots of musicals, and hope to see a few celebrities.

If I had to leave my soulmate I'd... be crushed forever. Ed and me, we I guess are soulmates. I don't think I have ever used that term. But love of my life and best friend forever? I would always have an empty space in my heart for Ed to fill

If I could be a movie star I'd… LOVE IT! I always wanted to act, maybe someday when the kids are older, I will join a local drama club for fun.

If I did a trick it would be...to make money grow on trees... oh wait that's a miracle.

If I had half a million I'd... pay off our mortgage, leaving us $376,000.00 to buy new cars, pimp out our current house, and save some money! Oh and take a damn vacation with our family and friends

If I could pick only 6 things in the house to have for 1 year, it would be... Computer, T.V., phone, clothes, art supplies and my camera

If I really could have a dream come true it would be... Duh. To make Susie better... read here to understand what I mean.

If the drinking age was lowered... Does it really matter? I mean most of my friends were kinda over the drinking thing when they turned 21.

If aliens really do exist... I'd like for them to socialize with us, maybe have us over for dinner, teach us a few things...

If school wasn't required... isn't that what "No Kids Left Behind" is all about?

If I had a special power… I would be invisible whenever I wanted.

If I am what I eat... If we are going off of what I just ate. Then I am a crab.

If I am rubber and you are glue... Yeah, I want to be rubber, and bounce all those crazy ass drivers off my roads!

If I ruled the world... People would stop saying "I don't have time" to do scrapbooking, art, reading, blogging. We all have the same time. It's just how we use it. I would make it a rule that we would make the time.

If dogs are a man's best friend... Then cats are a womans?

If time heals all wounds... then time is never ending, it's got lots of wounds to heal

If I won the lottery... Oh there is a long list of things to do with it. Buy a big lot of land. Big enough to have a house in the middle, one on each side for my IL's and my parents and my sister her own too. The ENTIRE area fenced in. So my dogs can run free! An art studio so I can teach classes right in my home, new cars. But nothing over the top. I want to travel with my money, and donate to animal shelters.

If actions speak louder than words... there are reasons why we hug. This is one of them

If I died today... I would hope to be remembered as funny, happy, and a loving person. And that the people that love me, never forget me.

George Carlin RIP

Sadly yesterday George Carlin passed away at the young age of 71. As a person of honestly and a good laugh. I have to say I enjoyed George's humor, and his outlook on lots of things in life. George I too worship the sun, rest in peace.

I won and I want it!

I am SO freakin excited STILL about winning the BIG mother of all prizes over at the SITS sisters website! I love my old Kodak digital camera, but it is HUGE and I think I dropped it in the snow years back, and it just ain't right since. So I am very excited about my new Fugi camera, oh and it's 8.3 mp, my old Kodak is 4 mp!

Moving on... I have now realized ever since I saw the Bloggers Survival Kit, I need to have a Sony digital voice recorder! I am constantly writing down ideas for blogs, and other random thoughts, this would be PERFECT!

A "comment junkie" who wouldn't love a t-shirt? And I get to explain to everyone what exactly a "comment junkie" is!

I love me some iTunes music so I am forever grateful for the gift card of $15!!

Gel mouse pad! Wee for me, I really do need one that has support for my weak wrists!

And of course the ever so beloved... chocolate.

My goodness, that was weeks ago you say? Yes it was sad that the USPS doesn't' get how to mail a package with my address and the senders city and state, duh. Anyway I have been patiently waiting and the package was sent back to the SITSland. Nicely I received an email that my box of Bloggers Survival has been rerouted with ALL of my information on it, I will survive with the old camera, and pen and paper, old music, and no shirt until then...

Maniac Monday

What is your ideal age?

Idea age for what? Myself? But what for? I would choose myself at the age of 23. I was in shape, and just married. But I love my life now almost 30 (just a few weeks!) and I have my kids, and pets now.

What is your best excuse for being late?
Oh, I SO blame the kids. ALL the time, what new mom is ever on time with a two year old and a 8 week old?

If you had to give yourself a nickname what would it be?

Besides my already sister given nickname of "Gack" I would pick "feisty" I want to see myself as more of a happy go lucky, but I think I am feisty more then not.

If your personality had to be summed up as a sandwich, what kind of sandwich would you be?
Very very white meat, with some feisty spicy cheese (love cheese!) and a cool attitude spread of some kind, all wrapped up in a brightly colored tortilla!

If you knew that someone was dying, but they didn’t know, would you tell them the truth or deceive them about it?

Tell them. I would be pissed if someone didn't tell me. Not that I don't live everyday like it's my last, but I think I would get a little more extravagant (like see Ireland, and Hawaii, or scuba dive with Ed one more time, just for him, finally take my sister to see the whales or pet a dolphin)

Do you dress the same when you are depressed as you do when you are very happy?
Nope. When I am depressed, you can tell. It's not often, but I dress as if I don't give a shit. Sweats, no make-up. But if I am happy. Oh the fun I have getting dressed. I guess getting dressed though, can make or break a day too. Depending on how fat I feel that day.

Are you a talker or a listener? Is it ever possible to really be both?

Don't laugh. I know those people that know me would say talker by far. But I do listen, a lot. I am learning that as I get older it is very interesting to stop and listen and not talk so much. But that won't slow me down from yapping my ass of all the time!

Do you think God has a sense of humor?
God... yes I do believe the creator of all has a sense of humor... lets just leave it at that for now...

Do you believe in love at first sight? Have you ever experienced it?

Yes, and yes. I saw Ed and got the fuzzy feeling of love (or gas, whichever...) but I was in a serious relationship and he was talking with another co-worker. I think we both quickly realized that we needed to do what it took to leave the ones we were with and date each other. A quick 5 months later we were engaged and 1 1/2 years after that we were married!

Goooood Morning!

Yes it is obvious my headache is gone. It got so bad I called everyone and to save me was my mother in law, Diane. She drove an hour to sit with me and the kids just to help out so I wouldn't loose my mind. Either way, owie is better. I am thinking a little to much sun yesterday in the yard... I need one of those big crazy yard hats gardeners wear...

Owie

(ok, it's not a picture of me, but this is what I feel like...)

I don't get headaches. Ever. Maybe, maybe 3 or 4 a YEAR. Count today as my second one this year. Owie. I guess I am thankful that it is just a really bad headache and not a migrane. Yes I have had 3 of those in my life, thank god not more.

Impossible to explain to Ed, since he too NEVER has headaches, and has never had the pleasure of a migrane.

Either way, I have a big ass headache, only on the right side of my head, and I am hungry, and Alex is in need of a bath, Mia should be getting up soon from her nap, and I made a mess in the basement attempting to start the new art room, and Maggie won't stop barking outside.

Yes my effing head is pounding, but I shall prance to the closet and get myself a few xtra strenght Tylenols! Wee for me!!

Whi Tie Roada

Me and my best friend. Not sure how many girls can honestly say that there mom is there best friend. I can. My mom has ALWAYS been there for me, and taught me more things about life and the people in it, then I can think of.

I thank you mom. From the beginning of our friendship you always made time for me. You always included me in everything you did, that's why I love art so much. And why I love to do art with you by my side. You always showed me the fun side of gardening, and when I got my own place we joined the local area Garden Club, quickly co-working on projects for them. (speaking of, today we are headed out to a Garden Walk, can't wait!!)

From Art, to Gardening. Grocery shopping to Cooking. Reading to Music. You have always been such a huge influence in my life. And now remembering all the things you did with and for me. I try to turn around and do all the same with my kids. Mia always has a seat at my art table.

I love my mom and the things she taught me. Not just the serious life lessons, but also the fun ones (my favorites)

  • You should order a LITER of pop, when ordering enough Italian food to feed a village, screw the little can.
  • Be sure to notice how funny it is when someone is talking, and they slap themselves, and just keep on with there conversation. The slap is because of a bug flying by, add in my mother's drama of the killer bug, drop the "f" bomb too.
  • Enjoy how much your mom laughs at little things, and remember that is where you get it from. Like when a band is playing, the lead singer hits a high note, and makes a funny face. You look over at your mom, and she is hysterically laughing.
  • When your mom taught you, not to be afraid to just go ask someone. I will approach just about anyone because of this. Wanna see the tour bus? So glad you asked! Let's go!
  • Sometimes you need to learn the lesson from your mom, Gramma Wanda, and "Don't go looking to borrow trouble" kinda like if it ain't broke, don't fix it?

Because of my mom, I think I am more happy go lucky, serious when I have to be, but a kid the rest of the time. Enjoying this short time on earth with the ones I love best, and doing the things that I enjoy.

You only live once, and this life is just too damn short to take it so seriously. Cut the people out that are negative (as hard as it may be) and weigh you down, me and mom have had to do this a lot lately and some of the people we had to let go together. But we are better and happier for it.

Notice little things, color, sunsets, happy people, innocence's, and take lots of pictures doing it! Thanks mom, for my life lessons, a great laugh last night, some amazing memories, and knowing I will always have you right there by me for it all.

Love you. Gack

Weaky Man

Oh if only you could hear Mia... think of the cutest little 2 year old girl voice. Look at her brother and say "Weaky Man? Yeah, Weaky Man."
I guess the other day I had called Alex my squeaky man, because he squeaks, sometimes when he is trying to get my attention. Its so funny, and even better when she calls him "Weaky Man" that is a Miaism if I ever heard one!

Daddy and Mi

Monday for our 7 year anniversary, Ed and I decided to spend the day with our family and pack up the kids and head to Chicago's Navy Pier. Outside of Navy Pier is a big square fountain, where I got some amazing pictures of Ed and Mia playing together. This is not something they get to do often since Ed works so much.
Alex and I watched, well more I was the family paparazzi and Alex hid in the stroller from the sun. The day was perfect, with the weather being a high of 73 and sunny. Perfect. Who would have thought that 7 years later we would have a happy little family to call our own. We could only dream. And it came true.
I am thankful for this day, and the camera that let me capture the happiness between a father and his daughter.

Knock knock... no one's home.

I found somewhere to go. I need somewhere to go. Me, my iPod, a blanket and some magazines. A place where no kid, cat or dog can find me.

The fort in the far back corner of the yard. It's perfect. Why I didn't see it before, I am better. The post partum crying fits are over. Jacki is back, but I still get stressed to the moon and back with all the crying, barking, door banging, and random cat pissing.

Mia is now at a point where she thinks it's funny to bang on her bedroom door durring her nap or bed time. I can get her all calm, read a story (at least 8 times) all tucked in, she's dozing. I get up to leave. and she is out of bed before I can even reach the door. She bangs and pounds on the door. I TRY to be as calm as I can, strict and stern I tell her it's time for bed. No smile, no laugh. I try to pick her up and put her back to bed. This just makes it funnier for her, it's like dealing with a looney. She dosen't get "the look" of pissed to no end mommy. She dosen't get the tone in my voice. GAH!! I now just put my iPod on and go to the fort.

Sounds childish on my part, but sometimes I just can't handle it. The everything. House, cats, kids, dogs, and now Ed is on a 5 days straight of back to back jobs, one day and one nights. I can do everything. It's just the damn banging on the door, and the crazy giggling to go with. As much as I love her I never thought she could ever aggravate me this much! And she's only 2!

I even took ALL her toys, but hard books, stuffed animals and her bed. So she will focus on sleep. Sigh.... any advice?

An Ode to Random Animal Behavior

Chloe and Jordan. Yes just being cats you are subject to random and bizarre behavior. But I have to say, even though I am always running around, and you may think I don't notice all you do. Well I do.

I will start with my oldest cat (5yrs) Jordan (grey cat) always lays around with her right paw forward (even in the picture above!) I also busted you doing the MOST bizarre thing. Each night I know you carry clean diapers from the changing table on the first floor, and place one in front of my bedroom door. One infront of Mia's room, one in front of the toilet. And ALWAYS one at the top of the stairs. (I SO don't get that) I do love when I sit in the computer chair, and you climb on the back and slide down behind me and nudge and push until I give in and let you have the majority of the chair, while my big butt gets the edge. Your the friendliest (you learned that from your brother Jax, RIP Jax!) and you have little or no fear of the dogs. Love you J.

Chloe. My 4 1/2 year old tiger with green eyes. You excel in catching and eating flys. I love you for this! You have either a death wish for yourself or me, because you always run into a room ahead of me and laydown right in my path! Mostly when I am carrying the baby or clothes! You have a wierd way to say "thank you for petting me" by bitting me in full force when I am done...Oh my favorite is when I am taking a bath and you must sit on the edge, putting your paws in or just hanging over 1/2 your tail in my water!! Muah my Chlo berry!

Good god, where do you start with a face like that? I love you Soph. She is my almost 4 year old (August 10th!) boxer. With a big heart that wouldn't hurt a fly (well maybe a fly) She has a nack for eating EVERYTHING, and ANYTHING! Mia's toys are her new favorite (yes VERY frustrating) but that is nothing compared to the Christmas lights (yes glass) some foil, cell phones are a favorite (right Jen?) oh all the remotes we have ever owned, the cordless phones, even the one connected to the wall in the media room! (no need to fret animal lovers, I do keep all pestisides, and cleaning products away. Plus she has been into the vet for some of her more extravagent eating habits!)

I have finally learned that you bark obnoxiously because you want me to go play with you, it's just you always want me to play. I am getting you pretty well trained to bring me "ball" or "ropie" so we can play together. You may get yelled at all the time, for getting into so much trouble. But I have to say your my girl. I love you my Sophie Lophie.

Maggie May, oh my BIG baby. How you came to our life is a long story but a great addition to our family on the loss of our Haley. You are a big sissy, but somehow you are our Alpha dog around here. And you don't let Sophie forget it. With one replaced knee and a grey fur line from a scar I will never forget. You have been through alot, but still are one tough girl.
Your love for Ed is crazy. When I try to sit by him on the couch, you run over, sore knees or not. And try to beat me to the seat. I can't even get to close to him, without you nudging your way in. I love when you have great energy, and can hop around like a big bunny, and chase Sophie in laps around the yard.
Today was cute, I thought I would just get away and take a few magazines up to the kids fort in the back yard for the first time. You and Sophie, layed directly below me in the grass the whole time.
Sometimes when I just get a few minutes and it's just you and me in the kitchen. I love to sit indian style in the corner on the floor, you know exactly what is up! You run over turn around and sit all 70 lbs of you in my lap. I then give you a good back scratch and talk to you. You always are the one to come to me when I cry. The few times I have truely broke down and sobbed either from stress or postpartum. You were there to kiss them from my face. You are truely the description of Man's Best Friend, my Magdalena.
Everyonce in a while I get a few seconds to give each of you attention, the way you like it best. Even though it is MAD crazy around here with kids and everything. Always know that the 4 of you are my kids too. I love each and every fur, and even when you shed them ALL over my house. Muah to my Maggie, Jordan, Chloe and Sophie.

To the Chi it is

After a few days of thinking, Ed and I finally decided on what we wanted to do tomorrow for our annivesary. We are going to take the kids to Navy Pier in Chicago. I am really excited, this will be our first family of 4 event that is just us 4!

And it's outside of town. So of course I will pack the car, stroller, and everything I own for the kids... oh and the kids too... I checked out the website on the Children's Museum in Navy Pier, I am kinda excited to take Mi there...

I will post more after...

Ed

Thank you.

For being the dad you are to our two amazing children, I can't wait to see the adventure they take us on, to see what kind of dad you are to them, and how you are seen in there eyes.

Your patience and love for them already amazes me. Not only am I blessed with the best husband and friend I could imagine, our children have also been blessed with someone who never seems to run out of ways to make them laugh, feel safe and know that they are always loved.

Thank you for now, and for the life we have ahead with our children.

Love always, your wife of two amazing children.

Jacki

Dad

Dad,

Hammer and nails, the smell of fresh 2x4's and paint,
a weekends worth of projects and things to build,

Always wanting you to ask me to be your assistant on projects,
feeling so important when you would, still do.

Even if it was just holding the measuring tape,
or handing you tools, I was your helper.
Maybe I credit the fact that you didn't have a little boy to teach you trade,
so that was me. I got to be your helper and learn from you.

Growing up where the inside of the house changed from month to month, doorways moved, walls went up, storage was built, and memories were made. I was so proud of how great you would make each of the homes you lived in.

Where do I start with this house I live in now?
The big hallway paint project with the crazy scaffold I climbed to paint at my house,
the great basement media room you built for my family to enjoy,
our great shelves in the garage,
painting Alex's room (ceiling too!) all the ceiling fans we use, not to mention all the little fix it projects I give you around my house. Something you could do in minutes would take us hours!
I also can't wait to work on and plan my art room to be!

All the little projects you have made for mom and me around our houses
and even though we may drive you nuts with requests and ideas,
we appreciate all the work you do, the time and energy.

I know maybe we don't show enough how much we appreciate all you do for us,
maybe it's that we are not sure how to thank you enough for all you do.

Well here is a start. Thank you dad, for your skill of being able to build just about anything we throw at you, you are greatly appreciated, and loved. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Love you always,
Gack

My newest iTunes songs...

Ed wanted me to buy "Black Betty" by Ram Jam. Of course I couldn't just get that. I still had $19 left on my iTunes store, check out what I got...

"This Is How We Do It" Montell Jordan (old school!)
"Touch It" Monifah (mmm good beat!)
"Calabria 2008" (feat. MIMS & Natasja) Enur Calabria (hot song from this year!)
"Got Your Money" Ol' Dirty Bastard & Kelis (just a funny good hip hop song)
"Ugly" Bubba Sparxxx (Got two of my favorites! Timbaland and Missy Elliot)
"Party Like a Rock Star" (Radio Version) Shop Boyz (Again beat is hot!)
"The Anthem" (feat. Lil Jon) Pitbull (Alex's first song in the car!)
"Damaged" Danity Kane (Diddy's new girl group, love to sing to this one)
"Wall to Wall" Chris Brown (mmm... yes he is young, but he's finally legal! Love me some Chris Brown, watch him dance and be amazed, listen to the kid sing and be more amazed!)
"Black Betty" Ram Jam (Ed's. But a great song!)

Yes, mostly Hip Hop, little Pop, and Ed's Black Betty is considered Rock. I used to be a closet Hip Hop fan, until I realized that is me. I love the beat, to dance to it, and the attitude that goes with it. That is where Pop is on my list, right up there with a hot beat, with the fun and sass too.

I do like Rock, and some Alternative too. But the Hip Hop and Pop are all me. Don't judge it or think its all crap... this inspires me to blog more... to be cont....

Multitasking v.s. Monotasking

Here is a great example of me multitasking... something I do constantly. I think my brain only works that way, no less then two tasks at once, if I am only physically doing one task, my mind is making a list of what is next to do.
In this picture I am feeding Alex, bottle resting on my arm, while cutting his nails. It seems to be when he is the most relaxed (he has that crazy newborn grip!) See Jordan on the stool? Yes at many times throughout a feeding, she gets petted. I must add that Alex's feeding time, is usually a one task moment in my day. I do try to just relax and enjoy him, before running to the next thing to do.
So I have read lately that you should Mono task v.s. Multitask, giving each task the attention it needs and it will be done correctly. Yes I do agree on some things, this should be the way. Like when I try to drive, eat and talk on my cell at the same time. I have learned that even with speaker phone this is a bit much at once.
I guess I am good at running full speed, I like to be busy, I think fast, type fast, work fast, and yes I may not get it all done right, but at this point in my life somethings just need to get done and doing it decent, v.s. perfect is better then not doing it at all right?

Two minutes between kids...

So between Alex just (hopefully) going down to sleep, and I do believe I heard Mia moving around. I think I have a minute to blog...

I am frustrated to say that I have a great buzz in the morning I have energy and am getting the crazy ass schedule of feeding Mia, Alex, Ed, the dogs, the cats. Oh and myself too. All while cleaning up after everyone, and sometimes shipping Ed off to his day job.

It's just at this time of day, my energy buzz is gone. More coffee only leads to a headache, and I still have a mile long list of crap to do, and no want to do much but stare at the wall. Also the numbness in my hands is really getting to me! (I SO want to get adjusted at my Chiropractor, but with insurance it's still $60 a visit!!)

Anyway. I am just on a sad path of discouragement. I can't clean fast enough to keep up with the everyday messes. I can't drink enough coffee to get through a day, I can't take 10 minutes to myself without someone crying, whining or guilt tripping me about it.

And when I do get 10 minutes to myself, I don't know where to start! Cleaning? No, why clean, it's your 10 minutes... Reading? By the time I get going, it's time to stop reading... Blogging? Sure I can do that, but now with the numbness in my hands, typing is getting to be a bitch.

Bah. I am really not in a bad mood, just discouraged at trying to be a supermom, and realizing that it's not as easy as it may seem.

I want to scrapbook all of my life and my kids life up to date, have meals planned for the rest of the year, budget better so we aren't left with $19.88 after Ed gets paid (but the mortgage is paid!) I want the house to be permanently clean, the dogs to be cleaned, nails trimmed, fed and happy. I want the cats to stop randomly pissing on things, be happy and stop barfing up hairballs.

Maybe it's time for a bath... just me and my water tub... but since Mia is awake it will be at LEAST 3-4 hours until I get some me time. But thanks for the 10 minutes blogger, I can always count on you.

137.5

Hmm... yes I skipped yesterday. I will chalk that up to the early morning, long walk with Jen and the kids, then a few hours of cropping with my dear friends at Scrapbook Junction, finishing the day with an award winning migraine (possibly from too much sun earlier in the day) so there was little or no checking in for me.

Either way, I have been doing well, salads, scrambled eggs, tuna, fish, chicken. Until Jen decides to offer me what she calls the best brownie in the world... did we not just walk 3 miles? Trying to be more healthy? And she offers me a brownie?!? You call yourself a friend! Either way, I did try it, it was ok, I am still a bigger fan of my Little Debbie Brownies, yes the little ones with the nuts on them. So I chewed it, and spit it out. Sorry Jen, I must not fall of the wagon so early in my attempt for my goal!

So I have been trying to be active. I had scrambled eggs and a Starbucks for breakfast, yes I know. Shame on me the Starbucks Frapachino alone is a meal in itself!

Anywho, that is weight check in for today. I am going to clean out the fridge and figure out some meals for the week. I am not very good at this preplanned meal thingy. Any advice from my readers would be great. I am more of a fly by the seat of my pants, kinda meal maker. But that usually leads to a box of mac and cheese because I am too lazy to think.

I need a plan... a way to come up with unique healthy meals... I love to cook, and try new things... hmmm....

139.5

I am wanting to check in each day with a weigh in, a food log, and whatever exercsie I fit in (if any)

I want to, and I will loose weight. I am 5 feet tall and my average weight should be 107-110. I am in the market to become 110. so 29.5 lbs to go...

I will check in tonight with my food log...

Happy Pills

I do have to share that I take Happy Pills for some (see Candid Carrie and her Chill Pills) they are called Chill Pills.

I know people joke about there kids driving them to drink, ok it's really no joke. It's quite obvious that with just two little ones. I can see why the week parents result to drinking to blur them out.

Not I. I would like to bask in there insanity and just join it. So it's over to the pantry for some Smarties mmmm.... down at least 2-3 packages and off we go on a sugar buzz! That is if my coffee buzz from Starbucks or my home made black and sugar buzz is gone already!

I can't wait until my little one's are old enough to join in! Everyone throw there hands up. Sing Jingle Bells as loud and off key as you can. Ending in a EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE and a footstomping dance!!

But to rewind, I really used to carry around a small pill container with 6 different sections, I decorated the cover and called it "Happy Pills" dividing the Smarties by color. I carried it around school and shared with only my closest friends that totally understood me. (god my parents were probably relieved to see it was just candy!)

Anyway. Life is crazy, stressful, insane and makes little or no sense. So embrace the InSaNiTy and eat some Smarties and dance it off, life is too short to go through it a blur! Plus it makes for good blogging!!

Smelly Cleavage

Smells like.... barf? Not mine, even thought that would be an exciting skill to throw up straight down. I was burping Alex, and his head was facing in, not out like usual.

I was reading my SITS sisters blogs, and burping little man, when I suddenly feel this wet, flemy smelly formula running down my neck and between my boobs filling my sports bra with Alex's breakfast leftovers. Gag. (not on my shirt, but score 2 points for the kid for getting it down my shirt. Gag again)

I don't even remember moving, I get him to his bed, lay him down and strip right there, using my shirt to wipe up the ever so yummy formula barf from my cleavage. Shudder. Gag.

Yes this beats the time he threw up down my back. Gag again. So mind you a shower is due for me this morning, even though I am sure regurgitated formula is a turn on for all men...

Movie at Mommies

I have been fighting with myself and Mia over nap time. It used to be around 11am but now it's moved all the way to 2pm! But she makes the sleepy ticking noise she does around noonish or one.

I would put her in her room, and lay her down, only to have her banging on the door and yelling 10 minutes later. I would get stressed and cry myself sometimes. I felt bad like I was banishing her to her room, but my friend Connie made a good point that we mom's need a break, even if it is an hour!

Why it took me weeks to figure it out, I will blame the 6 week old, my anger twards pads and 6 weeks of wearing them. Either way today I had a smart moment.

I needed to fold 4 baskets of clothes, which I do in my bedroom... so around 1pm I went in and started to fold. As I thought in followed little Miss Mia and her tired tickey noise. I set her up on my big bed, Mia says "Mommies bed?" hmmmm... maybe she could chill on my bed, watch a movie... I could fold clothes.... she could nap in her bed when she was really tired!

Genius! I had "Monsters Inc." DVD nearby, so I popped it in the DVD player, she really still doesn't have the attention span for a whole movie. But surprisingly she watched a lot of it. We made it to the part where Sully and Mike get sent through the door to live with the abdominal snow man. Then off to bed.

Proudly she went down, and is sleeping now. Phew... hope this works everyday... minus the 4 baskets of clothes...

Other genius idea with Mia...
*While Mia is in the tub, and needing supervision. Bring coupons to cut, read magazines, or clean the bathroom.

Go there. Be amazed at Shannon's stunning creativity, and original blog page layouts. I am SO friggin excited, especially from all the hype all the SITS girls have been saying about her, and stay tuned for a new blog make over for me! FO FREE! No lie, this is a $90 value, and it is ALL MINE! Speaking of contests, as much as I want to win it all. I will be sitting the next SITS contest out, and hoping that my bestest friend Jen wins for her blog A Day In The Life Of...

I am supposed to come up with some ideas, patterns, colors that I like for Shannon to get started. Oh my, where do I start? Especially since I change out my blog so often. But I am hoping for a blog front that is so kick ass that I never want it to change.

So if you click here one day, and WALA you are amazed by a unique blog, that is the work of Shannon at Eight Crazy Designs. I can't wait!!

Use for a 2 year old's Birthday Card

Well Mia's birthday is here and gone, so what do you do with all those cute birthday cards? I have to say they make great dustpans (I do have one but it was upstairs). Or in my case dog barf picker-upper.

Maggie INHALED her breakfast of large chunk Iams, and water. Then proceeding to gag at the back door, I quickly (with my cat like reflexes) open the sliding glass door, Maggie then upchucked a watery, slimy, yet still solid large amount of Iams and water. Then proceeding to the end of the deck to vomit out the rest. (mind you Maggie is a 65 lb boxer, that is a lot of barf)

Sadly most of it went into the door track, but the rest was on the kitchen floor. Since Alex was screaming for his bottle, my coffee was getting cold, and Mia was wanting her Waffas with sirep, I thought the fasted thing to do was, scrape and flick it all onto the deck, I will hose it off later. Unless the dogs eat it sooner.

I did have to clean out the track, and wash up the kitchen floor. Well good news is Maggie and Sophie went outside and ate it all up. Perfect. Less work for me, and it's like a snack for them.

It may be gross to you, and you might have even thrown up in your mouth a few times while reading this, but dog barf is kinda low on the priority list, as long as it's not in my kitchen. Ya feel me? If they missed any I am sure the damn bird that has made a nest in my grill will eat it. (I will post later, with pictures of that one...)

Good Green God

This is the phrase I say when I am overwhelmed. So much to blog about this morning, so many things to do around the house, and so many new SITS blogs to visit!

Amidst the chaos of my morning routine, I found the time to make a list of things I should attempt to get done today. Amusing myself so early I realize I took the time to doodle the day at the top of my list page... sadly after a cute doodling session I realize I wrote "Saturday's List"... it's Sunday... well I guess it's better then putting Saturday and it being Wednesday, right?

Well here is the list for your entertainment, and mine...

  • Fold Clothes (4 baskets to fold and put away, one in dryer and one in wash, and one to go in)
  • Empty Dishwasher, and start reloading, clean off counter and table from this morning
  • Dye Hair (Blonde Chocolate is the color I picked, kinda weird, when I dyed my hair black, it was called Chocolate Velvet... either way, my roots are a little darker then my dyed blonde hair and they are getting to that point, of not so cute)
  • Clean out truck (Since I had a day of Cropping at my mom's yesterday, I should take all my scrapbooking stuff out of the truck, and give it a good clean out anyway)
  • Bills (oh yes, I am not excited about this, I have been putting this off, and the adult in me is saying. Shame shame...)
  • Thank You's (I am SO bad at finishing these! They are all filled out, but I need to address them and get them OUT OF MY HOUSE!! Not to mention I have more to do... you would think that with my business I would be on top of sending out cards... )
  • Clean out the fridge (Eww... not that it smells, but that will be soon to come if I don't get rid of those damn Easter eggs...)
  • Bathe Children (yes if I don't make this on my list, who knows when I will bathe them. Probably when Mia points to the tub and says "Baf?")
  • I need to get my ideas over to Shannon at 8 Crazy Designs so she can begin making my PERSONALIZED blogger website! (I won it through SITS contest)
  • Movie Date with Ed. (he rented "Bucket List" so we are hoping after all day of work for both of us we can pass out in front of a good movie, I am saying we make it through at least the first scene before the snoring begins)
  • OR Ed and I could play the Play Station game he rented me... "Lego Indiana Jones" Yes I know, 29 and I still love to zone out on a good video game. Doesn't happen often, probably 6 months since I played anything...

So that is the list of today, I am SURE that a lot of it will get shuffled through the next few days... or weeks...

(I was on the phone with my dear friend Maternal Mirth the other day, and she told me how to do that Linky thing. I am noticing I will be abusing this feature. I always wondered what that thing was. Looks like a green blob with googlie eyes to me)

I win!

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! OK, maybe it's the hormones still jacked up (with a new born and all) but I am crying like a sissy right now! Hormones or not, I am so friggin excited! Oh my god!! I can't wait to wear my t-shirt, use my mouse pad, eat all my chocolate, tape record myself, listen to my new songs I will buy at iTunes, look at my newly designed website all while taking my own picture! HA HA!!

(be right back, must stop and do a happy dance...)

Hooray for me!! Thank you, thank you, thank you to the AMAZING sisters at The Secret Is In The Sauce I won the contest for this week, I am so super crazy happy!! Wee for Mee!!

Hope my sisters out there enjoy my site, I was so freakin' nervous when I won, becuase I was worried what to blog about next (I found out durring my nightly blog fest) hope you all like what you read. Sorry if I do offend, I tend to be pretty blunt here! Thanks again Heather and Tiffany!

Bizarre noodle trick

I have these little glass bowls. And when I make the Kraft Macaroni and Cheese single servings. I shit you not, every time the little noodles are all standing up when the microwave goes off... every time... we are to weirded out by this...

Sleepy Spike

6 weeks old, yes he is sporting the ever so rebelious spike, aka Faux Hawk. Why? What is there to rebel against? I guess formula and nap time right now... I love it!

Mommy Diapers

Well I am done with the pads! Yes WAY to much information for some, but I must say I HATE, LOTHE, DESPISE pads. They are SO uncomfortable, no matter how tiny or underware shaped they make them. I still hate them.

6 weeks straight now I have worn a stupid pad. Boo!! Well along with my clearance to bathe myself I can now be the happy tampon user I was long ago!

It's been 6 weeks since my last bath.

But I have showered I swear! But if you read my blog through my pregnancy, baths were my get away, I love them. I don't have a fancy tub, no jets, not even that big. Just a standard plastic tub with some hot water.

And since Alex was born, until this morning I was not allowed to take a bath or sit in water until Dr. gave me the go ahead. Well I must say I am very excited and my uterus is back to it's original size and I may bathe again! Hooray for me!

Jumper

Ed just rented Jumper from his store is was SO good. We then had the great discussion on what would be the best super power to have if you just get one. I have to say now that Jumping is a new power, it's right up there with being invisible.
Ed was saying that stopping time was what he would pick. Eh, maybe we could join forces and he could stop time and I could jump us from place to place... either way. I SO recommend this movie, great action and a good story line!

Miaism's

My Miaisms as of the past few days...

I am sitting on my bedroom floor, neck deep in laundry. Mia comes up to bringing me the headset part that plugs into our cordless phone.

Mia: Here you go mommy. Is Jen?

My oh my, I guess I do talk to Jen alot... 4 hours a day is alot? Really? Hmmm....

~~~~~
I jumped in the shower the other day with Mia, I get out and dry off. Leaving her to play in the tub water (yes I know, only the best parents let there children play in dirty shower water)
Since my dear son, Alex, is only 6 weeks old, I am still spotting, so I go to put a pad in my underware...
Mia: (points to my underware) Mommy diaper?
Mommy: (not sure how to explain to a two year old, and I realize that she did a good job of it herself) Yes Mi, it's a mommy diaper.
Insanity at its best
Mia's how old?!?
